Long jumper

Sporty Contract

Topsport has hopped, skipped and jumped its way to a sporty contract with the National Exhibition Centre Group.

The Group selected Topsport Turfsand to fill the long jump pit at the 29th European Indoor Athletics Championships held at the National Indoor Arena (NIA).

The BBC covered the event in March and recommended grey Topsport Turfsand as a good background for highlighting digital graphics showing jump distances.

Turfsand also meets strict standards from the International Association of Athletics Federations.

Shaugh Lake Quarry, Devon, supplied the required 15 tonnes of Turfsand, with Trupak, Nuneaton, finishing the job by packing the sand into bags to be unloaded at the NIA.

The event was the biggest athletics meeting to take place in the UK before the London 2012 Olympics. Topsport sales representative, Tim Edwards, said: "We have been working with the NIA for three years now. It would be great to get an Olympic contract as well.
