Natural frequency
In terms of floors, resonance is the tendency of the floor to oscillate or bounce when energy is transferred by either people walking across it or objects being moved across it.
Concrete has very low resonance due to its weight and strength, which means that there is very little bounce' factor in concrete floors. This not only contributes to a feeling of security within the building, but it is one of the reasons concrete has such an extensive role to play both in the construction and improvement of our civil engineering and infrastructure. Its great strength, its durability and versatility are properties that are utilised in the construction of Roads, Bridges, Airports, Railways, Tunnels, Ports and Harbours and many other major infrastructure projects.
