The Tarmac commitment

Tarmac, with over 12,500 employees and an annual turnover of 1.4 billion pounds, is the largest component of the Anglo Industrial Minerals (AIM) division of Anglo American plc. The Tarmac Group is the UK market leader in aggregates, mortar, concrete blocks and asphalt, and number two in ready-mixed concrete and concrete flooring. This has been achieved through Tarmac's strategic network of 521 units worldwide, consisting of:

- 73 sand and gravel sites
- 59 crushed rock sites
- 75 asphalt plants
- 221 ready-mixed concrete plants
- 38 mortar plants
- 37 recycling
- 18 concrete products production sites

The company has more than 3.5 billion tonnes of global reserves, with 2.5 billion tonnes in the UK and 1.0 billion tonnes in Europe. Tarmac operates three core business streams: Building Products, Aggregate Products and International markets. There are 7 further sub-divisions functioning under Building Products.
