Investment in block packaging line will bring new pack size options to construction sites and merchants
Tarmac Topblock has invested in a new aircrete block packaging line at its factory in Linford, to bring a new range of packs in convenient sizes to construction sites and merchants, which will be available soon.
The redesigned, all-in-one packs are safer and easier to handle and have been rebranded with Tarmac Topblock's distinctive corporate green and yellow logo. They incorporate voids and can be lifted and manoeuvred quickly with a forklift truck onto scaffolding. This allows the blocks to be placed closer to the point of use, to reduce handling and improve site efficiencies. A smaller, industry-standard footprint also means that the packs are easier to stack and take up less space on site. Easy-to-read pack labels identify the product type and dimension, pack quantity and include handling and storage instructions.
Commenting on the investment, Commercial Director Alistair Whitaker said, "This investment will mean that we will soon able us to offer a range of more convenient pack sizes, and will help to deliver significant benefits to builders and developers. The smaller packs are easier to store, safer and quicker to move, and are a practical solution for busy sites as it means that blocks can be positioned in the most convenient location to improve productivity. As soon as this is available, we are sure it will be of great benefit to our customers."
The robust and rigid design of the packaging means that no pallet is needed to support the blocks; thereby preserving valuable timber resources and saving merchants the time and effort of organising pallet delivery and collection.
It also means that the blocks are less susceptible to breakage. Topblock also ensures that the packs are handled using clamps at all times - from the factory to the stockyard - so they arrive on site in perfect condition, minimising stock returns.
