Hemelite Standard

Hemelite Standard lightweight blocks

Hemelite Standard lightweight blocks are extremely versatile and can be used in standard wall applications above and below ground including beam and block flooring. They provide a strong background making them ideal to receive plaster finishes and are particularly suited for use where a rendered outer leaf is proposed. They also provide a secure base for fixings.

Why Hemelite Standard?

Hemelite Standard achieves good levels of strength, fire resistance and sound insulation and can be combined with cavity insulation to achieve virtually any desired level of thermal performance.

High proportion of recycled content

The majority of our manufacturing Plants use a high proportionˆ of recycled/secondary materials in the production of Hemelite which combined with good Green Guide Ratings make Hemelite a very sustainable product.

Hemelite Standard applications

- Inner leaves of cavity walls

- Outer leaves of cavity walls, rendered or clad

- Cavity separating walls (including specifications to Robust Details E-WM-2, E-WM-4, E-WM-8 and E-WM-11)

- Internal partitions

- Walls below ground

- Infill units to beam and block flooring

Unit and laid weights are approximate and calculated based on the specified dry density with 3% moisture content by volume added to provide equilibrium weights.

* Manufactured to order subject to minimum quantities.

+ An alternative way to construct a 215mm wall is to use 100 or 140mm Hemelite blocks laid flat. Alternatively, 190-215mm walls can be built using two leaves of 90mm/100mm Hemelite laid back to back and suitably tied. Design guidance on both these methods of construction is given in BS 5628-1 or contact Topblock technical services for advice.

Hemelite Standard environmental performance

Hemelite Standard is manufactured under an ISO 14001 compliant Environmental Management System that is independently certified by BSI. Summary green guide ratings applicable to Hemelite blocks can be found in the BRE Green Guide to Specification www.thegreenguide.org.uk.

ˆ The average recycled content of Hemelite Standard including the use of secondary materials is approximately 50% across all production.
