Tarmac 'Guess the build time' winner at new TP branch opening
Skegness builder and developer, Brian Hallam, put his experience to the test by correctly guessing that a new demonstration wall, built from Tarmac Topblock's Durox System using thin joint technology, would take just 53 minutes to complete.
The wall was purpose-built for a competition to mark the opening of Travis Perkins' branch in Skegness. The new site covers 47,000 sq ft and is believed to be the largest 'multi-project' trade centre in town, stocking a full range of building materials and supplies. It will promote innovation in construction, championing building products and systems allied with Modern Methods of Construction (MMC).
The Tarmac Topblock competition was designed to illustrate this emphasis on MMC, as Simon Rayner, territory manager for Lincolnshire and Humberside explained: "The best way to highlight the features and benefits of new MMC building products like the Durox System is to show them in action. By demonstrating it in this way, builders can see that the new techniques involved are easy to learn, and that the product helps to make the whole build process much faster and more straightforward compared to standard block methods."
Commenting on his prize win of Durox System thin join technology products, Brian Hallam said: "Although it was a bit of fun, it was really useful to see the Durox System in action. It was clear where the time savings would come from and, after a little initial training, any skilled person would pick up the new techniques in no time."
"It was also good to know that these new systems will be available through Travis Perkins. I've been a longstanding customer and it's nice to have the new larger branch on the doorstep."
