Road recycling

Tarmac has extensive experience of the foamed bitumen process, which uses fully mobile mixing plants to produce base or binder materials by enhancing recycled aggregates, including road planings.  Tarmac is at the forefront of the drive to promote the use of recycled materials and has established recycling operations strategically located throughout the country.

Low carbon concrete - Tarmac LCC

By reducing CO2 emissions in production, Tarmac's range of Low Carbon Concretes aim to be just 50% of the carbon footprint of the same material manufactured using ordinary Portland cement. It can also include recycled aggregate.

Fibre reinforced concrete - Topforce

Topforce is a range of macro-synthetic fibre reinforced, ready-mixed concretes, aimed at replacing the need for crack-control steel wire fabric mesh, and steel fibres in internal concrete applications.

Porous asphalt paving - TarmacDry

TarmacDry is an asphalt porous paving system that takes control of rain management by working with nature. It is designed to capture rain and surface water before either storing it for recycling, releasing it immediately into the sub-grade or performing a controlled release into the existing drainage.

Light coloured asphalt for tunnels - Mastertint

Across Europe, the use of coloured asphalt in road tunnels has helped to cut lighting costs without compromising driver safety. Reflective road surfacing technology has the potential to combine with lighting technologies to deliver better driver visibility as well as offering the potential to reduce lighting costs.

Ultra durable paving - Masterlayer

At Tarmac, we have developed Masterlayer. A tough asphalt that utilises stronger, more flexible materials to provide enhanced resistance to pavement cracking and deformation.

Re-using waste tyre chips as fuel

Thermal mass - Termodeck

TermoDeck is a fan-assisted heating, cooling and ventilation system that actively exploits the high thermal mass of structural hollowcore floor slabs to control internal temperatures and distribute warmed or cooled fresh air through out a building.

Waste management - Topblock takeback scheme

As part of our commitment to sustainability, we have launched the Tarmac Topblock Take Back Scheme. This environmentally friendly solution, provided by Tarmac in partnership with HIPPOWASTE®, was launched to make on-site block waste management easier.
