University of East Anglia Nursing and Midwifery
Client: University of East Anglia
Architect: RMJM London
Contractor: Willmott Dixon
Consultant: RMJM Scotland
Project value: 10.5 Million Pounds
Completed: 2006
The NAM building was developed by the
University as there was an increase in both staff
and students and the facilities at their previous
site were not seen as modern methods of
teaching. The NAM building has 'State of the Art'
seminar and meeting room facilities, new skills
laboratories, site catering and a 200-seat lecture
theatre.
The four-story building had a budget of 10.5 million pounds and covers a ground space of
3,500m2. The UEA has a policy that they
have low energy building designs and good
energy management. For this reason, they
again chose to use TermoDeck as a tried and
tested method of heating, cooling and
ventilating the Nursing and Midwifery building,
their fourth completed TermoDeck building.
The high density of both occupants and equipment will test the TermoDeck system within this building. It was agreed with the Client that the building would only use 'passive' TermoDeck methods to heat and cool the building. No mechanical cooling systems are used to help the environmental conditions within the internal spaces.
