Why have we developed our Sustainability framework?

We have developed a new, comprehensive sustainability framework to help development in four main sustainability themes:

• Sustainable Products
• Climate Change
• Natural resources and the Environment
• People and Communities

We are using this framework to help us to evolve our sustainability performance.

Tarmac's Sustainability Framework

Our sustainability framework is the result of extensive internal and external consultation and benchmarking.  It identifies priority issues for Tarmac, supports our drive for continual improvement and helps us to communicate our progress both internally and externally.

Within four main themes our Sustainability Framework identifies priority issues of most relevant to Tarmac, our customers, suppliers, shareholders, employees and other interested parties.

Tarmac's business is founded on products that are essential for economic and social wellbeing, from creating the built environment and infrastructure around us, to important manufacturing processes and environmental protection.	Climate change is a concern for the whole of society. As a major organisation, Tarmac is playing an active part in tackling the issue holistically.	We are committed to meeting the market demand for these essential materials in an efficient and sustainable way, responsibly managing the impacts of our operations on the environment and use natural resources in a responsible and efficient manner.	Our business is connected  to people.  We therefore have a responsibility for operating our business in an ethical and responsible manner, engaging with stakeholders and ensuring a safe environment for employees and local communities.
