Tarmac Buxton Lime and Cement outperforms industry peers

Every year, the Mineral Products Association (MPA) produces aggregated performance information for the entire lime and cement industry in the UK.

Tarmac Buxton Lime and Cement (TBLC) recently established a new cement production facility at its Tunstead headquarters. This modern cement plant benefits from improved energy efficiency, which is reflected in a significant decrease in greenhouse gas emissions at the site.

TBLC constantly monitors the environmental performance of its lime and cement plants and we report the cement plant data from Tunstead to the MPA annually. The MPA’s industry comparison charts show that the TBLC plants outperform industry averages when it comes to emission levels of sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOX) and particulates.

The British Lime Association now plans to produce similar information for the lime industry and we are providing relevant data for this report.

Tarmac is committed to draw on this sustainable performance and continue to implement improvements in emissions, supported by energy-efficiency measures.
