Natural Resources & The Environment

Our products and materials are used in buildings and infrastructure across the UK, as well as across a host of different manufacturing processes. We meet demand for our materials responsibly, while integrating sustainability considerations into all aspects of our operations, including the way we use natural resources and our impacts on the environment.

Why does it matter?

The raw materials we extract, such as hard rock, sands and gravels, and the fuels and other materials we purchase are finite resources. We work to ensure they are extracted and used in an efficient manner, protecting the environment, conserving resources, preserving our archaeological heritage and restoring our sites for future generations.

What is Tarmac doing?

Our stewardship of operations allows us to manage our impacts and protect the environment through environmental management systems, Biodiversity Action Plans, archaeological investigations and site restoration. We are acting to conserve natural resources, including water, while minimising the amount of waste we create and increasing the use of recycled materials from other sectors.
