Reuse
You should never EVER throw away things that are still good. Old clothes, toys, blankets, furniture, computers, books and stamps can be given to a charity. Giving things to charities helps other people and it also reduces the amount of stuff that ends up in landfills.
With a bit of imagination old things can be used in and around the house too.
Small amounts of newspaper are easily reused for animal bedding, or lining bird cages and the dustbin. Old cotton shirts make great rags for cleaning bicycles and cars.
Make birdhouses out of milk cartons, drums from coffee cans, or coasters from yogurt containers and cards. The kids at Quarryville have invented a million uses for old items. Can you?
And it is not just small things that can be reused. An old bath sunk into the ground makes an ideal garden pond.
