Here at Quarryville, we have our own little expression – “If it’s broke and can be fixed, FIX IT!”
Clothing, shoes, office equipment, furniture, fridges, tools, bicycles, prams, videos, watches, footballs, cars … the list of things that can be repaired is endless. Yet all too often, people just go out and buy new stuff without even thinking about repairs.
Repairing or restoring big items like fridges and furniture is especially important because it keeps these big, useable items out of landfills.
If every time a machine or vehicle at Quarryville broke down we went out and bought a new one, we would go out of business very quickly. Do you know how much a dumper truck like this one costs?
A typical dumper truck is Caterpillar 775, which would cost approximately £200,000.æ A single tyre costs approximately £8,000.
That is a LOT of money! That is why we have experts to repair our equipment when it breaks down.
So, as you can see, here at Quarryville we take the three ‘R’s – recycle, reuse and repair - very seriously.
