Reinforced concrete without steel mesh

Topforce is Tarmac’s ready mixed concrete with fibres for crack control. Fibres offer the concrete all the strength of steel mesh, without the extra burdens of having a big team on site and over time rusting of the steel. Topforce is also more effective at reducing the risk of plastic and drying shrinkage cracking, so concrete floor construction can be made easy.

What makes Topforce so strong?

The fibres in Topforce are distributed evenly and angled at random, so they literally stitch the concrete's particles together in all directions. This strengthens our special concrete enough for it to be ‘the new steel’ in a vast range of projects. Topforce removes the need for steel mesh for concrete flooring, saving you valuable time and money. See more in Topforce reinforced concrete flooring applications.

Topforce conforms to BS 8500:2006 standards. It has also successfully achieved NHBC acceptance (National House Building Council) .

Topforce gives toughness and strength to the concrete throughout, making it more effective in reducing the risk of plastic and drying shrinkage cracking. It is also more hardwearing and tolerant to impact than conventional concrete, reducing whole life costs. See more Topforce reinforced concrete benefits.

High strength

Macro Fibre Reinforcement is a unique form of high strength, high modulus synthetic structural reinforcement that is distributed throughout the concrete matrix. Macro fibres give toughness, impact and fatigue resistance to concrete. It consists of synthetic fibres that have specifically been designed to replace welded wire fabric, light reinforcing bars and steel fibres in flooring.

As part of Tarmac Topforce either polymer or steel fibres can be specified:

  1. Polymer fibres conform to BS EN 14889-2
  2. Steel fibres conform to BS EN 14889-1
