Porous tarmac system: TarmacDry applications
TarmacDry porous asphalt systems are designed principally for off highway applications.
Car parks
Ideally suitable for all car parks, from retail centres, supermarkets to park and ride schemes and offices. There are also health and safety benefits for customers when wheeling trolleys over the smooth permeable asphalt surface versus block-paved areas.

School playgrounds, sports and leisure surfaces
TarmacDry porous asphalt system offers a smooth finish that does not allow surface water to sit on top of the surface, making it less likely to freeze in the winter. Cycle paths
TarmacDry porous asphalt can be coloured to provide aesthetically pleasing cycle paths in the middle of a wooded areas. It's also safer as it doesn’t allow water to puddle on the surface.
Sloping sites
TarmacDry porous asphalt systems can be successfully installed on sloping sites. The specification is dependent upon the gradients and may be necessary to construct dams or baffles within the sub-base layer to control the flow of water. See more in Johnson and Johnson.
Brownfield sites
A common misconception is that SuDS cannot be used on contaminated sites. In fact, an appropriately designed TarmacDry porous asphalt system can be successfully incorporated into any brownfield development and can offer many advantages over conventional drainage solutions. A primary benefit is that the shallow construction minimises the amount of contaminated soil that needs to be disposed of, off-site.
Flood-prone areas
If you need to build on a flood-prone area or an area that floods due to heavy rainfall, then TarmacDry provides a sustainable urban drainage system (SUDS) allowing rainwater to permeate through the porous asphalt.

Areas with drainage problems
SuDS can also be used very effectively to overcome drainage problems on existing developments. TarmacDry can provide a cost-effective solution without increasing land-take requirements. In certain circumstances use of a TarmacDry porous asphalt system could make available for development land which is currently sterilised by conventional drainage requirements.
Rainwater re-use
TarmacDry porous asphalt systems can be utilised for harvesting rainwater. TarmacDry's sub-base creates a storage tank and can be used for non-potable applications like toilet flushing and irrigation.
