Tarmac - Our structure, Ettingshall building

Future shape of Tarmac customer enquiries

Background
In January 2009, Tarmac announced that it was changing the structure of its UK business. As a result of this review, Tarmac will be separated to form two new businesses:

Tarmac Quarry Materials (TQM)

Tarmac Building Products (TBP)

What is happening to Tarmac?

Tarmac has created two separate companies that will work to individual strategies that are most appropriate for their customer base. Tarmac Quarry Materials and Tarmac Building Products need different strategies to secure and develop their businesses, and deliver even greater customer focus.

What will the new structure look like?

Tarmac Quarry Materials (TQM) will be led by CEO Terry Last.  TQM will comprise of the existing quarrying businesses of:

Aggregates

Asphalt

Concrete including Minimix

Recycling

It will also include:

Tarmac National Contracting

Tarmac Buxton Lime

Tarmac Buxton Cement

Tarmac Building Products (TBP)

Tarmac Building Products (TBP) will be headed up by Blair Illingworth, CEO. The TBP structure will see all of Tarmac's current Building Products business units merged together to form one business.

Why is Tarmac making these changes?

As a market-leading business, we need to look ahead and adapt to ensure that we continue to improve our performance to maintain our strong position and deliver even greater customer-focus.  The new structure will enable Tarmac to respond to customers in a more efficient, simplified and responsive way.

Will the new businesses be independent?

Yes, the ultimate aim is that the two companies will be completely independent of each other, while still operating under the Tarmac brand.

Is Tarmac still up for sale?

It is still Anglo American's intention that Tarmac will be sold.

What do these changes mean for me as a customer?

It is business as usual for customers, so there will be no major impact on the services, products and deliveries you normally receive from Tarmac. Your local sales contact might change, but if this is the case, we will let you know straight away.

Where can I get more information?

Most customers will receive a letter outlining the changes in more detail or will be updated by their local Tarmac representative. If you have any questions please contact us.
