About Nosterfield Quarry and Tarmac

Nosterfield Quarry is located in North Yorkshire midway between Ripon and Bedale. Nosterfield Road Map in relation to Bedale, Ripon, Masham, B6267 road and A1 trunk road

Footpaths at the quarry are open to the public for walkers and birdwatching, seven days a week, throughout the year. Our visitor centre, with free car parking and public toilet, is beside the B6267, three miles from the A1 motorway.

Our job is to produce sand and gravel for construction in North Yorkshire and West Yorkshire. It is used for houses, roads, hospitals and schools and drainage projects.

While recycled materials are used wherever possible, new sand and gravel is essential for complex structures such as tall buildings and bridges to ensure quality.

Nosterfield Quarry provides employment for 55 people – fifteen quarry staff and 40 haulage drivers who deliver our products. A significant number in a rural area.

A message from the Quarry Manager:
Chris Pennock, Tarmac Nosterfield Quarry Manager “My name is Chris Pennock and I invite you to visit our quarry whenever you wish. We take a pride in the work we do. We aim to operate safely and quietly in our rural environment. And when the quarry is complete, the lakes, trees, footpaths and landscaping we have created here will be a joy for walkers and a diverse habitat for wildlife for generations to come”.
