Tarmac and the community:
Our Liaison Committee

For many years now Tarmac has encouraged the formation of Liaison Committees at its sites in order to promote exchanges of views and ideas between the quarry and local residents.

The liaison committee provides a forum where local representatives can pass on local information, concerns, questions, etc to Tarmac employees. It is also an opportunity for local Tarmac management to explain what has happened at the quarry during the previous six months and what is proposed for the next phase of working.

In addition to the Liaison Committee, there is also a Restoration and Aftercare Management Committee, which is made up of local representatives, officers from North Yorkshire County Council’s planning and heritage departments and ecologists.  This committee oversees the ongoing restoration of the site.
