The Code for Sustainable Homes was published in December 2006 by the Department for Communities and Local Government, further reinforcing the government's intentions to drive change through the building sector to adopt more environmentally friendly techniques and materials. Recently Gordon Brown announced 3 Million homes are to be built over the next 13 years with low carbon technologies at the heart of this build programme. LCC aims to achieve a 50% carbon reduction*

For years we've been making concrete this way, however we know that for many of you it is becoming increasingly important to be able to confirm your environmental credentials to your clients. Therefore we are now able to tell you that if you buy a Tarmac LC Concrete you will be buying a material which always aims to be just 50% of the carbon footprint of the same material manufactured using ordinary portland cement.

We have been supplying construction related products for years which make a valuable contribution towards developing a sustainable society however we havent always informed our customers about these benefits. This is a first step for Tarmac, we are committed to providing you with the products you need to undertake your projects in an environmentally sustainable way. We are therefore investing further in technologies which will allow us to reduce the carbon footprint of all of our products and to be able to provide our customers with the information that they need.
