Toproc ES at rail ballast yard
Metronet wanted to replace their badly worn ballast transfer facility at Ruislip, North East London. Toproc ES microsilica concrete was specified by White Young Green to achieve a high abrasion slab to comply with Class AR0.5 (Special) BS8204-2: 2003. It is the high compressive strength of Toproc ES that gives excellent abrasion resistance to resist damage.
Toproc LS at Avonmouth bridge
Avonmouth Bridge, which carries the M5 Motorway over the River Avon, was contracted to be strengthened. This was necessary because of the increase in road traffic, weighing from 38 tonnes up to 42 tonnes. When it came to strengthen the southbound girder, Tarmac and Costain Civil Engineering proposed a radical approach to replace the steel stiffener with concrete. Toproc Low Shrinkage microsilica concrete with Eclipse shrinkage reducing admixture was specified.
