3km of maintenance free recycled plastic fencing erected four weeks early and on budget
Narborough Road South, through Braunstone Town, is a busy dual carriageway and one of the busiest routes into Leicester. Working alongside Leicestershire Highways Operations, Tarmac managed the removal of almost 3 km of wire mesh metal fencing that was positioned in both narrow verge areas and replaced with aesthetically pleasing low maintenance fencing. The existing fencing constituted an important safety role by separating pedestrians and drivers using the service road from fast moving through traffic on the dual carriageway.

Lesley Pendleton, County Council Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport says:
"Narborough Road South is many people’s first impression of Leicestershire as they leave the motorway, so improving the environment is crucial in creating a good image.”
“The new fence has already improved the appearance of this major traffic route for residents and commuters and I’m delighted we can improve it at no cost to the council taxpayer"
