Tarmac Low Carbon Concrete for Premier Inn

Premier Inn, one of the UK's largest budget hotel operators, are setting new industry standards for sustainable design and construction in the hotel sector with its new Tamworth hotel in Staffordshire.  Premier Inn's approach to the environment is focused on reducing waste and increasing efficiency.

The new hotel will reduce energy consumption by up to 80 per cent and is a test project for Premier Inn. It will trial the best green technologies currently available, and will establish which are viable for their hotels in the future.

Tarmac's Solution

Tarmac has developed a range of low carbon concretes (Tarmac LCC) suitable for oversites, footings, kerb backing and mass fill, with a range of options based on locally available materials in a projects area.  LCC was an obvious choice for the Premier Inns green hotel and was specified during the early stages of the project.

What is Tarmac LCC?

In order to help our customers make their own contribution towards combating climate change Tarmac has introduced its range of low carbon concretes.  Tarmac LCC helps to Achieve a 50% carbon reduction by utlising a recycled aggregate with a lower carbon footprint, and also helps to meet future legislative demands.

These types of concrete will enable developers to design with energy efficiency in mind, both in terms of running costs over the building's lifetime and also in terms of embodied energy in the materials used.
