How to specify Tarmac Mastertint coloured asphalt
Typical Specification wording (see chart below).
Pedestrianised areas shall have a wearing course of 6mm Mastertint SMA Classic Red (or other Mastertint colour). The nominal compacted thickness shall be no less than 25mm and the material shall be laid in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations.
Carriageways/trafficked areas shall have a wearing course of 10mm Mastertint SMA Classic Red (or other Mastertint colour). The nominal compacted thickness shall be no less than 30mm and the material shall be laid in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations.

Material Selection - For highways or surfaces subjected to heavy traffic, Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) mixtures should always be selected. 6mm porous mixtures are intended for free draining sports and play areas, or for porous residential driveways. 10mm porous mixtures are intended for use as part of the TarmacDry system*.
