Sustainability agenda

Our work with trade associations and public bodies enables us to promote and develop industry-wide initiatives aimed at driving higher standards in sustainability performance across the sector.

We have signed up to the sustainability commitments of the Concrete Industry Sustainable Construction Forum and are actively involved in the development of concrete industry sustainability targets.

Tarmac proactively supports the work of the Mineral Products Association (MPA) to drive sustainability improvements across the aggregates, concrete and asphalt sectors. We comply with the MPA Cement Maker's Code, which sets sector-wide benchmarks and a strategy for improvement. We also comply with MPA Cement's Code of Practice for Waste-Derived Fuels.

We also comply with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development Cement Sustainability Initiative and contribute to the UK Environment Agency's Cement Sector Plan, a cement industry voluntary commitment which sets targets for environmental improvements beyond regulatory requirements.
