Why TarmacTarmac has always had an excellent reputation for health and safety training of their employees. I wanted to join a company that would encourage their workers to develop their skills and strengths. I feel training is the way forward and Tarmac is a front leader in this. A bit about your roleI am responsible for the cutting and maintenance of the grass verges in the Leicestershire area. I am involved with the daily maintenance of my machine insuring it complies with all regulations in force when used on the public highways. It is also my responsibility to ensure that all members of the cutting team are wearing the relevant personal protective equipment (PPE). Qualifications/Experience that has helped youSince joining Tarmac I have gained many new skills and qualifications including traffic management, NVQ level 2 in amenity horticulture, kubota training and McConnel proficiency operator training. I also have a valid JCB excavator 180 degree licence. In recent months I also acquired my first aid certificate. With ten years experience of grass cutting, learning new skills and having new challenges is great for me as I enjoy learning something new. Future ambitionsI would like to become the supervisor in charge of a rural operative team, organising the teams workload and deal with issues regarding training and plant operations. |
