New Packaging line brings smaller pack size options for Merchants
Tarmac Topblock has invested in a new aircrete block packaging line at its factory in Linford, to bring a new range of packs in convenient sizes to builders’ merchants.
The redesigned, all-in-one packs are safer and easier to handle and have been rebranded with Tarmac Topblock’s distinctive corporate green and yellow logo, for simpler identification. The packs incorporate voids, which enable them to be lifted and manoeuvred quickly with a forklift truck onto scaffolding – a big benefit as customers increasingly require blocks to be placed closer to the point of laying. This flexibility means the new packs can help to improve site efficiencies. A smaller, industry-standard footprint also means that they are easier to stack and take up less of a merchant’s valuable retail space. Easy-to-read pack labels identify the product type and dimension, pack quantity and include handling and storage instructions.
Alistair Whitaker, managing director of Tarmac Topblock said: “This investment will enable us to offer a range of more convenient pack sizes, which will help our merchant customers achieve increased sales. The smaller packs are easier to store, safer and quicker to move, and are also an attractive proposition to builders and developers keen to have blocks sited in the most convenient location.”
The robust and rigid design of the packaging requires no pallet to support the blocks, preserving valuable timber resources and saving merchants the time and effort of organising pallet delivery and collection. It also means that blocks are less susceptible to breakage.
All packs are handled using clamps - from the factory to the stockyard - to ensure that they arrive on site in perfect condition. This minimises stock losses, helps to maintain good customer relationships and improves profitability for the merchant.
