Tarmac Topblock unveils new 'Report on Sustainability'
Tarmac Topblock has unveiled its first 'Report on Sustainability' to highlight the many environmentally focused aspects of its products and operations. The brochure will be an invaluable tool in offering guidance and information on blocks as a modern and sustainable construction material.
Covering a range of elements that contribute to sustainability at every level of the Tarmac Topblock business, the report and accompanying fact sheets emphasise how Topblock has implemented best practice through all of its operations. From sourcing 95% of raw materials from within the UK, to recycling 100% of production waste, using recycled materials in their blocks, working with the communities in which they operate and giving advice on the forthcoming 'Code for Sustainable Homes' legislation, Tarmac has sustainability at the top of its agenda.
Tarmac Topblock commercial director, Alistair Whitaker said: " This 'Report on Sustainability' clearly demonstrates our environmental credentials and confirms our commitment to future investment in this area. There are certainly considerable challenges to be met both now and in the future. As a leading block manufacturer, it is important that we help our customers gain a better understanding of the issues surrounding sustainability in the block market and how they translate to the specification of Tarmac Topblock products."
Complete with case studies, detailed graphical and pictorial analysis, the report also demonstrates the excellent thermal mass properties of masonry blocks and how performance benefits such as durability, acoustics, energy efficiency and embodied energy all play a positive role in the sustainability of the Tarmac Topblock product portfolio.
