Tarmac may be better known for the 'black sticky stuff' but this year's Civils Exhibition will highlight that there is more to Tarmac than meets the eye.
Tarmac is paving the way in providing innovative, climate change resistant products for civils applications and will be showcasing some of these best-selling environmental solutions on their state-of-the-art stand at K24.
The display will highlight the expertise of Tarmac's national contracting business and demonstrate the uniqueness of their broad range of problem-solving products including Toproc concrete, porous paving, precast concretes, and drainage solutions from Topsport.
Tarmac's displays will include; the high performance chemical and acid resistant application of Toproc concrete against conventional concrete; Topsport, a drainage solution which prevents waterlogged sports pitches; and a working display of Tarmac's porous pavement technology which holds, purifies and recycles rain water, which in turn reduces flooding and will ultimately eliminate the need for positive drainage systems in the future.
The porous pavement technology was recently used to create a sustainable solution for the new Withywood Community Centre in Bristol. The Centre's car parks were constructed with Tarmac's porous surfacing, enabling rainwater to permeate through into aggregate reservoirs capable of storing thousands of litres of rainwater. These reservoirs provide an opportunity for grey water to be captured and re-used, or released slowly back into the environment to protect against flash flooding. Other environmentally-friendly design features include an in-built weir system and inlet pipes to transfer rainwater from the roof.
The enhanced benefits of Tarmac's range of high-quality products vastly improve the durability of the applications as they can withstand harsh elements and easily outlast all conventional treatments.
