Tarmac 3peaks

8th September 2006 - TARMAC EMPLOYEES IN PEAK FITNESS

Six Tarmac employees are dusting off their walking boots to take part in the Three Peaks Challenge over the weekend of 16-17 September.

Adrian Thompson, Adrian Male, Stephen Preece, Stephen Stasiak and John Sterland, all from Tarmac's Precast Concrete site in Tallington, Lincolnshire and Irek Gawedzinski from Ettingshall in Wolverhampton have been training hard over the last 6 months to get in shape for the gruelling event.

Steve Stasiak, IT Analyst of Tarmac Precast, said: "We're taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for Cancer Research UK, in particular supporting breast cancer research as it's something that will probably touch us all during our lives."

The challenge, which involves climbing the highest mountains in England (Scafell Pike), Scotland (Ben Nevis) and Wales (Snowdon), has to be completed within 24 hours.

A support team consisting of Tarmac employees, Paul Knight and Mick Eastman from Tallington, Emma Reese from Ettingshall and non-employee Elaine Stasiak, Stephen’s wife, will be following the six competitors throughout the event. Emma said: "We'll be on hand throughout the challenge to offer encouragement and to drive the team from peak to peak."
