Why Sustainability?

Sustainability is key to achieving our goals because it has relevance at every level of our business and supply chain. We are proud of our achievements to date but acknowledge that we do not yet have all the answers.

What is Tarmac doing?

We have developed a new, comprehensive sustainability framework to help our development in four key areas: Sustainable Products, Climate Change, Natural Resources & the Environment, and People & Communities. We are using this framework to help us to evolve our sustainability performance and reporting structures.

Tarmac's Sustainability Framework

Our sustainability framework - the result of extensive internal and external consultation and benchmarking - identifies priority issues for Tarmac, supports our drive for continual improvement and helps us to communicate our progress both internally and externally.

Within four main themes our Sustainability Framework identifies priority issues of most relevance to our Tarmac, customers, shareholders, employees and other interested parties.

There is a Sustainability report thats replaces the Report to Society previously published by Tarmac.

Sustainable products

Sustainable Products

Tarmac's business is founded on products that are essential for economic and social wellbeing, from creating the built environment and infrastructure around us, to important manufacturing processes and environmental protection.

Climate Change

Climate Change

Climate change is a concern for the whole of society. As a major organisation, Tarmac is playing an active part in tackling the issue holistically, by managing our own carbon footprint; by developing lower-carbon, energy-efficient solutions and sustainable products; and by helping our customers, supply chain and employees do the same.

Natural Resources and the Environment

Natural Resources and the Environment

We are committed to meeting the market demand for these essential materials in an efficient and sustainable way, responsibly managing the impacts of our operations on the environment and communities around us.

People and Communities

People and Communities

Our business is connected in many different ways with many different people - from our neighbours, employees and contractors, our customers and suppliers, to regulators, policymakers and shareholders. We endeavour to create positive relationships by being open, ethical and honest.
