Tarmac has committed to sponsoring one particular cause for 2007 - the UK's leading first aid charity, St John Ambulance.
Our funding will ensure that the Grand Prior Trophy Challenge, Britain's premiere first aid competition. St John Ambulance organise this competition to promote the importance of first aid training throughout industry, as it believes that they play an important part in maintaining standards of excellence in the vital aspect of Health and Safety.
The Grand Prior Trophy Challenge features timed assessments that simulate injuries inflicted to a host of volunteer 'casualties'. To qualify for the event, teams must have won a prior national industry or company competition.
This year, two teams from Tarmac will enter the National Industrial First Aid Challenge in the hope of making it to the Grand Prior final, which takes place from 4-5 December 2008 in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.
Tarmac has sponsored the Grand Prior Challenge in a bid to encourage employees and the public at large to take up life-saving skills.
