Tarmac teams help raise a fistful of funds in five-a-side football for the British Heart Foundation
Two teams from Tarmac's Ettingshall offices in Wolverhampton may not have lifted the trophy but they certainly assisted in netting a valuable £500 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) at a recent five-a-side football tournament.
Fourteen teams were involved in the annual Michael Page Five-a-Side Football Tournament, held at the Goals Soccer Centre in Willenhall. The Tarmac teams were made up of employees from management accounts, contract hauliers and IT. Although both teams got through the initial stages, one was knocked out in the last second of a quarter final game with a score of 3-4, and then the same victors of that game trampled on Tarmac with a 4-0 defeat in the semis.
Tarmac sponsored their teams' shirts and although the teams didn't reach the finals, an enjoyable time was had by all, with the added bonus that they were contributing towards the BHF at the same time.
"The event was a huge success and all of the people involved said how much they enjoyed playing and that they are looking forward to playing again next year," said Keith Dean, Tarmac consolidation accountant.
"I would like to say thank you and well done to all the players for entering and to Tarmac for supplying a raffle prize and a strip for us to wear."
Each year the Michael Page Football Tournament is held for a nominated charity and the BHF, this year's charity, were extremely grateful to receive the proceeds raised on the night through the tournament and raffle
