For us, real choice and value comes from giving our suppliers a level playing field where they can confidently show us their skills and services. It's about healthy competition and fairness.
It's not what you know; it's who you know. Or so they say. At Tarmac we're inclined to think otherwise. Yes, outstanding work earns suppliers a reputation with us, and we'll be more inclined to invite them to tender in future, but it's no guarantee they'll get the job.
We want our suppliers to be proud of their trading relationship with Tarmac. We expect this pride to be apparent in the quality of service and account management. 'Between-me-and-you deals' are simply just not the way we do things.
We fervently believe that there's no place anywhere in our organisation for complacency or favouritism with any supplier. We strive to work with only the best and if suppliers consistently prove to us that they are, then our relationship will flourish. There's no place for relationships that lack transparency. When such relationships are ever highlighted, they're removed.
