‘Tarmac online’ goes live in response to industry appetite for e-business

Tarmac’s customers are set to save time and money with the launch of ‘Tarmac Online’ – the construction industry’s most comprehensive web-based customer portal, which is now live.

Following consultation with existing customers and unique website development work with Microsoft and leading IT consultancy, Conchango, Tarmac has developed a cutting-edge service which sets a new standard for e-business in the construction industry.

The system has four main functions:
• ‘e-Account’ enables customers to view their account, lodge and track invoice queries, obtain copy invoices and ‘Proofs of Delivery’ – and also to download information to Excel
• ‘e-Tracker’ provides a live window on the progress of the day’s dispatches
• ‘e-Order’ enables clients to view quotations and place orders
• ‘e-Report’ allows customers to compile longer-term purchasing reports, and to transfer product, delivery location and data into Excel

“Tarmac Online will deliver unrivalled benefits to customers, in terms of transaction efficiencies, cost savings, and provision of valuable information,” said Kate Boyle, Tarmac’s e-business manager. “It will allow us to meet clients’ changing demands and respond to how they increasingly want to do business – online.

2,000 customers are now using the new system, and the Tarmac team is using its expertise and experience to ensure customers know how to get the most out of the service. We will continue to work in partnership with customers to develop and improve Tarmac Online, which lays the foundations for our future e-business developments.”
