Cricket family fun day aims to raise £10k for children's charity
Tarmac Precast at Henlade is supporting a community cricket and family fun day on Sunday 13 July to raise money for a local children's cancer charity, the Marian Evered Trust.
The tournament, at Over Stowey cricket club, will get underway at 10.00 am with the Ray Poole memorial charity shield game. The game is played annually, in memory of former Tarmac employee, Ray Poole, who died tragically in 1996. Taking part are teams from Tarmac, the Ancient Mariner pub in Nether Stowey and other local teams.
Jason Barrow, works manager at Tarmac Henlade said "we're really excited about the event and hope it will contribute to our target of £10k for Musgrove children's cancer ward. There's so much going on for both children and adults to enjoy and we hope everyone in the local community will come along. There will be a sponsored tractor pull, welly throwing competition, bouncy castles, skittles, a prize draw, beer tent and grand BBQ."
The weekend kicks off on the evening of Saturday 12 July, with the barbecue, bar and live music. There will be free camping facilities and admission is £5. For further details please contact Mark Sells on 01278 732226.
