Tarmac loads up cash for East Cheshire Hospice
A Cheshire hospice has received a generous donation from Tarmac Limited after the company volunteered to help raise funds at their annual Hillhead exhibition.
Visitors were enticed to the Tarmac stand at the Hillhead Quarry Exhibition by a remote control loading shovel assault course. Visitors were asked to make a donation of 1 pound to try their hand at manoeuvring the mini truck around the course in the fastest time in order to win a bottle of champagne at the end of the day.
The event raised a total of 161.09 pounds, which has been added to the money raised by the North West Area office employees from various other fund raisers including 'dress down days' as well as selling raffle tickets on behalf of the Hospice to win a brand new Peugeot 107. A cheque for the grand total of 800 pounds was accepted on behalf of the Hospice by fundraiser Andrea Mountney.
She said: "I was really pleased to hear back in May that the Gawsworth Area office of Tarmac had chosen us as their 'Employees Charity' for the year 2006-2007. Now only two months into their fundraising we have received 800 pounds, it's fantastic to see that all their efforts are paying off!
"The Hospice relies heavily on donations from those in the local community to raise the 4,500 pounds needed every day to keep beds open. 800 pounds is a wonderful surprise and a great achievement so far for all Tarmac employees in their year of supporting the East Cheshire Hospice".
