Tarmac opens the doors to Bayston Hill Quarry

Tarmac's Bayston Hill Quarry is opening its doors to the public for a fun filled family day out.

The open day is being held on Saturday 8 September from 10am to 4pm, and will be held at Bayston Hill Quarry, Sharpestone Lane, Bayston Hill, Shrewsbury.

Malcolm Lawer, Tarmac's western estates and geology manager, said: "We are really excited about the open day. There's so much going on for both children and adults to enjoy.

"There will be steam and traction engines from the Shropshire Mining Trust, various displays of heavy quarrying plant and you can even have a go at driving a loading shovel, albeit it a remote control model. There will also be a bouncy castle and guided bus tours around the Quarry.

"Refreshments will be available throughout the day, with free tea and coffee, and ice cream for children."
There will be ample free parking available. Unfortunately Tarmac cannot guarantee good weather, so please wear suitable shoes and clothing.
