Tarmac First Aider

Health & Safety

Tarmac is fully committed to health and safety issues and is striving to eradicate all injuries and unsafe behaviour. This is integral to the way we undertake our business and our commitment to good citizenship.

Tarmac operates a zero tolerance approach to workplace injuries with a strategy that aims to ensure our operations do not give rise to any injuries to employees, subcontractors or other third parties.

We have nurtured a culture where our whole workforce believes that no job is so important it cannot be done safely, and have implemented a well established and consistent strategy that has delivered significant improvements across the whole of Tarmac through the use of Golden Rules and common SHE standards.
In recognition of this, Tarmac National Contracting’s integrated Management System was awarded OHSAS 18001 accreditation by our external verifiers, BSI. This is confirmation of very high safety standards that are adopted by all our operations across the UK.

We have an extensive Sustainable Development (SD) department employing professionally trained and qualified staff and all Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) matters are dealt with through these in-house facilities. The SD department is a permanent facility established to service the requirements of a large nationwide business with several thousand staff/operatives, providing assistance and advice to operational staff.
