3 August 2006 - Increased customer focus for Tarmac

Tarmac has launched a company wide drive to meet the needs of customers nationally and locally with two new initiatives.

The company has rationalised its 15 business web sites under one address www.tarmac.co.uk in an overhaul of its on-line business and launched a new Customer Helpline (0800 1 218 218) to ensure efficient and effective handling of all customer enquiries.

The new look site enables potential applicants to search for and apply for jobs on-line and customers to log-on to Tarmac's electronic Proof of Delivery (POD) system, which allows customers to search for and print copy PODs. In addition, customers can now more easily navigate to the product they require, and have instant access to technical downloads, product information and contact details.

The new Customer Helpline is primarily targeted at new customers who do not know which part of the business or which individual they need to speak with, as well as existing customers who have an out of the ordinary enquiry. The Helpline is manned by fully trained staff who will also deal directly with enquiries coming from the new web site.

Angela Walker, head of marketing and communications from Tarmac said: "We are continually trying to find ways of better meeting the needs of our customers. These two initiatives are the first in a series of initiatives to improve our customers' experiences of dealing with Tarmac."
