Kalic provides stable solution

Kalic provides stable solution in turbulent world markets. Water and industrial effluent processors will now find the benefits of Kalic Liquid Lime an even more attractive proposition, thanks to the wildly fluctuating price of caustic soda on the world market. In the past few months alone, caustic soda prices have rocketed by up to 50%, emphasising the benefits of Kalic's stable pricing and making a switch to Kalic increasingly cost-effective.

Since its introduction by Buxton Lime over two years ago, Kalic Liquid Lime has proved to be an economic and safer alternative to caustic soda for drinking water and acidic effluent waste processing. With sales already exceeding expectations, Kalic has become very highly regarded. Kalic's tried and tested formulation has been applied to a wide range of industries which include water, steel production, oil, pharmaceuticals, food processing and agri-chemicals.

Caustic soda's price volatility is explained by the fact that it is only manufactured as a by-product of chlorine: but lower chlorine production has led to dramatic price hikes. As the production of Kalic is based on a readily available natural material, it is unaffected by such market trends and so exhibits a more favourable and stable price structure.

But although an important consideration for many users, cost stability is not the only attraction of Kalic. In place of the danger, corrosiveness and handling problems normally associated with caustic soda, Kalic combines a less aggressive, more environmentally friendly formulation with superior performance. The non-toxic and non-corrosive suspension of calcium hydroxide is classed simply as an 'irritant' and results in lower handling costs all round.

Kalic Liquid Lime is a unique product comprising an 18% suspension of calcium hydroxide in water (Milk of Lime). The extremely small particles make for a stable suspension with a large surface area to give rapid reactivity and high efficiency for acid neutralisation and pH control. Kalic can also help protect tanks, vessels, valves and pipework from corrosion, so plant and machinery are less likely to be damaged. And its low freezing point (0ºC) significantly reduces the need for lagging and trace heating of pipework, pumps and tanks.

Kalic Liquid Lime is supplied as a ready made suspension which is easy to pump, handle and transport and does not have the handling and storage problems commonly associated with powders and slurries. It is usually delivered by bulk tanker or in returnable 1000 litre containers.

As with all Buxton Lime products, the manufacture of Kalic Liquid Lime is quality assured in accordance with ISO 9002 under a manufacturing process which is environmentally credited to BS 14001. Furthermore, all Buxton Lime products are of a consistently high purity and backed by research and technical service facilities which are unrivalled in the UK lime industry.
