Buxton Lime named Supplier of the Year

'Plenty of customers know that our products and people are hard to beat. Well, now it's official. Tarmac Buxton Lime and Cement business, has been named Supplier of the Year by one of its largest clients, in recognition of the company's lime offering.

Tarmac Buxton Lime and Cement came joint top, out of 170 major suppliers to the building materials company Saint-Gobain Weber. They were judged on cost, product quality, logistics and technical support.

"We wanted to reward suppliers for their performance, rated not just by the products but by the people we deal with on a daily basis," says Weber's purchasing manager, Paul Brooks.

It's the first time Saint-Gobain Weber has run this competition. The company began with all its major suppliers, before whittling the list down to 49. It studied their performance between April 2006 and March this year.

Saint-Gobain Weber is owned by one of the world's largest industrial groups, Saint-Gobain. It is a leading player in building materials such as facades, tile fixing and mortars.

Tarmac Buxton Lime and Cement supplies two products to Saint-Gobain Weber: high quality limestone and Limbux hydrated lime. It won the award for the supply of Limbux to Saint-Gobain Weber's main plant at Flitwick, Bedfordshire.

"To beat 169 other companies just proves we're setting the standard for product and service. And it's great that our people are receiving the recognition they deserve," says Tarmac Buxton Lime and Cement's director Phil Richards.
