Tarmac RoadMaster SMA - Cold-lay stone mastic asphalt for highways reinstatement

RoadMaster SMA is the first HAUC and BBA HAPAS approved permanent cold-lay reinstatement material, designed specifically for use on type two, three and four carriageways.

RoadMaster SMA is an innovative way to meet the challenges of small excavation reinstatements. Tarmac repairs and reinstatement usually requires considerable amounts of costly labour, plant and transport, but with RoadMaster SMA such issues are eliminated. RoadMaster SMA can be used in both binder and surface course reinstatement, requiring just one site visit and reduces wastage and costs. RoadMaster SMA is engineered with Stone Mastic Asphalt, a mixture increasingly used on road surfaces, it’s ideal for matching to existing carriageways.

RoadMaster permanent reinstatement

The reinstatement of small excavations on carriageways traditionally requires significant amounts of labour, plant and transport. RoadMaster SMA can reduce the costs and improve the environmental performance of the reinstatement process dramatically.

The Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways permits surface course materials to also be used as the binder course in small openings and narrow trenches. This means that RoadMaster can be used for all layers in the reinstatement.

Use of temporary reinstatement materials, which are replaced at a later date with hot lay materials, results in additional costs and material wastage associated with repeat site visits including labour cost, barriers, lights, signage, surplus materials, fuel, tipping costs and landfill taxes.

RoadMaster SMA is a specially engineered Stone Mastic Asphalt for fast one-stop permanent reinstatements, manufactured using approved aggregates at dedicated production units. With roads increasingly surfaced with stone mastic asphalt type materials, RoadMaster SMA provides the perfect solution to matching the existing carriageway. The result is an exceptionally consistent product which, after compaction, is ready for immediate trafficking, reducing disruption to the public.
